The 2008 Melinda Helfer Fairy Godmother Award
For Outstanding Contribution to the Romance Genre
(The Melinda Helfer Award is named in honor of RT's esteemed reviewer and
dear friend.)
To honor Melinda's memory and to celebrate her love for authors and the
romance genre, we have created an annual award to be given in her name.
The 2008 recipient is Pamela Regis for her many years of teaching, speaking
and writing about the romance genre in a positive light and for her
monumental work, A NATURAL HISTORY OF THE ROMANCE NOVEL , which serves to
explain the romance genre to the academic and literary communities and to
help bring legitimacy to women's genre fiction.

The 2007 Toby Bromberg Award for Most Humorous Mystery
(The Toby Bromberg Award is named in honor of RT's longtime mystery
reviewer, who passed away in 2002.)
To honor Toby Bromberg's memory and to celebrate her enthusiasm and love
for authors and the mystery genre, we have created an annual award to be
given in her name. This year we are proud to announce the seventh recipient
of The Toby Bromberg Award for Most Humorous Mystery Novel, Claire Matturro, for
SWEETHEART DEAL, published by William Morrow.
